CHAIRMAN 1944/1945
T. W. “Tommy” Feagin was the founder and owner of Feagin Insurance Agency. He was a native Houstonian who came to Conroe in 1932 to open a feed store for his employer Conroe Grain Company. Business in the feed industry began to show a decline for the next 10 years, which led to the eventual close of the business in 1944. This, however, was only the beginning of a bright career for the young Feagin. He became the Southland Life Insurance Company agent for Montgomery County that year and opened his own insurance business.
Tommy and his wife Mae had one daughter, Lois Jean (Mrs. Alan Ezell) and one son, Wiley Feagin and five grandchildren.
He was active in many endeavors in the community. He was a member of the civic group that started Conroe Hotel, the first community financed hotel. Much importance was placed on the hotel, as it was the only meeting facility for the community. He was also a participant in the group that worked to bring the first radio station, KMCO, to Conroe. He played a very active role in the construction of the First National Bank building in 1938 and in the second building program in 1970. That six -story structure is now Conroe Tower.
Tommy served the Chamber in many capacities including Chairman of the Agriculture Committee in 1941, as a member of the County Council for National Defense, and as Chairman of the Building Committee in 1966/1967 which built the Chamber Building at 101 West Phillips. During his tenure as Board Chairman, the Chamber endorsed city delivery of mail. In addition, he served in the following:
