DON A. “DONNIE” BUCKALEW, JR.

Don A. “Donnie” Buckalew, Jr. was born in Tomball, Texas on October 30, 1958 and moved to Conroe in 1965. Donnie attended and graduated from Conroe High School (1973-1977) and attended and graduated from Baylor University (1977-1981); earning a Bachelor’s of Business Administration degreee.

Donnie is currently the General Manager for Buckalew Chevrolet, L.P. in Conroe, Texas. He and his wife, Leesa have been married for 37 years. Their daughter, Dayna is married to Justin Wieghat and their granddaughter, Teagan is one year old. The Buckalews attend Lone Star Cowboy Church in Montgomery.

Over the years, Donnie has served the Conroe/Lake Conroe area as well as his business in a wide variety of roles including president of the Houston Automobile Dealers Association and a board member of the Texas Automobile Dealers Association. He is a past president and chairman of the Montgomery County Fair Association as well as a past board member and president of the Montgomery County Community Foundation. Donnie has also been very instrumental in the growth of the Conroe/Lake Conroe Chamber of Commerce serving as Board Chair in 2002, but also serving numerous terms on the Board of Directors; he has also been an integral part of the Conroe Industrial Development Corporation and a board member with the Greater Conroe Economic Development Council. Donnie also has a passion for the Lion’s Club, and as a member of the Conroe Noon Lion’s Club, he has served as a board member, 1st, 2nd, 3rd Vice Presidents and is a past president of the club.

Donnie stays involved in the Conroe/Lake Conroe area and is currently President-elect for the Texas Automobile Dealers Association…scheduled to be president of that group in 2019. In addition, he is an active board member of the Houston Automobile Dealers Association; a lifetime member and committee member of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo as well as a lifetime member and executive committee member with the Montgomery County Fair Association.

Donnie can be seen putting together volunteer cookers for the chamber’s annual Lobsterfest celebration held each October. As a new generation of cookers have come along, the event continues to be an important part of the chamber and community.
